Hi, yet another day has passed. I had my first OFFICIAL English lesson today. I think I gotta get used to the American spellings, oh, heck! I don't want to, it's about the same right...? NO lar... oh whatever...
Anyway, none of the people I knew were in my English group, D. KNEW IT...
Nevermind. I can make more friends in this way. I met a girl named... Perlin. She was from Anderson Secondary School. Then came to UB straight, like me. Yeah. But she looks more matured.
We had to do this introductory thing. I had to find out more about her and vice versa. We were given 3 questions to ask.
-Where did you came from before here?
-What's your position(1st, 2nd, 3rd child?)
-What's one interesting thing about you?
Yah... I shan't elaborate further.
Oh! I was late for MATHS class. I waited SO SO long for 154 this morning...
WAIT! Did I tell you my nails are GREEN? Ok, back to the main topic.
So, reached school at about 10.50am, class starts at 10.45am. And there's something wrong with the lecture theatre's clock. It's FASTER.
So I went into class, searched for the peeps... CAN'T FIND THEM!!! Nevermind. Took a seat beside some strangers...
After some looking around, finally found them. So I shuffled... PLACES! Went to sit beside Elizabeth. Yeah... Then Mr. Syed taught... he's so funny man... And so he taught LIMITS. Easy eh... I never learnt that before, but the way he teaches is a slow and steady pace, so it's really easy to understand.
He gives a pretty long break.
GOOD: Rest, toilet break, revise and catch up, ask qn.s if dunno(so far not yet).
BAD: WE PAY THEM $30+/HR to teach us and we get PAUSES?! What the..., some people don't heed "non-smoking" rule and smokes in-campus, came back with BAD BREATH. YUCKS... and the stench of coffee breaths all over the place.
After school, went with Hong Yong and Matthew to a music studio near Chinatown to have my VERY 1st drumming practical lesson. Took me quite awhile to learn the beats he taught me. BUT PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT! I did it! I could play the hi-hat, snare and bass drum part. It's so FUN!
Look... it's really tiny 'cos we used Hy's handphone.

Kinda cool place, but my ears went "bzzz" after that, 'cos the drums are REAL loud, and MATT plays really hard and LOUD!!!
Then, we went to Peninsula Plaza to check out some guitars, stuff like that. I saw a Green Day t-shirt!!! Yippee! But $15, and the printing is not so good. So, I'll check around other shops before deciding to buy. Anyway, they don't have my size, M there.
At night, went to Orchard with my parents and HY... went to visit Sunglasses and Watches store, Uncle Alvin and Carmen... And Auntie YANG. Ok, had Swensens ice-cream, lingered around for a few hours and went back at 12+am...
Hmm... I got my textbooks already, from a senior, or.. should I say, someone older, I don't know if senior is the right "term". Anyway, I was saying... my new friends and I were having lunch on tuesday, then, before that, we already met while I was queueing for the jap. food, so, I was eating, and he suddenly "pops" up behind Jane, and she said "Wah scare me, thought who..." haha... funny :D He scared her... unintentionally.
But, I got the really HEAVY textbooks from him and paid him $95 for those. Wow, and I brought it along with me all the way to Dad's shop. I wrapped it nicely already, so, next year, I'll sell it, hopefully 70% of original price. "hahaha..." sheeshhh...
3:42 pm
Wow! Today's the first day of school, and I'm like, school's kinda cool, I hope... it stays cool. Lol.
Anyway, last Saturday was my parent's wedding anniversary. Yea, we went to the Intercontinental Hotel(does that ring a bell? It's where Franz Ferdinand stayed when they came over to have a concert!) to have our buffet dinner at the Olive Tree. Nice! We ate a lot, and got pretty bloated.
Here... have a look at some pics we took.
Okay, first up... family photo, parents photo... at the dining table.

Next... Mom and I after the buffet... and the GUMMY BEARS!!!

Okay, we tried to take photos like, a lot of times here, to get the "perfect shot", but nah, didn't happen. Anyway, here are a few candids...

Followed by a few better ones. (hehe... BETTER?)

Overall, nice food, but not as good as before. I say, it really did degraded.
Okay, for now, let me tell you about today. FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL! Cool.
I woke up at 7.45am. Had a "considered not bad already" bus ride on 154 to school, walked to the Atrium... phew! Guess who I saw, Loisa, Audrey and Gracelynn. Yeah. No worries. We took a look at the electronic signboard(actually a plasma flat screen tv that's used to show our class timings and classrooms). So, we went to the usual room, 4.14. Had our music lesson, then at 10.30am, had our English written test. We were told to write an essay. Argumentative or Persuasive? I don't know lah.. Hehe... Anyway, the question was...
"Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Playing games teaches us about life... blah..blah...". You get the point? Yeah. So I wrote... It's okay. Not much of a problem. I agreed, but put a disagreeing point at the end. Then the conclusion.
I checked my email. Just realised that I received a reply from my forum posting. Mr. XXX is selling his 2nd hand textbooks! Let's compare...
Principles of Microecons. *$49 ^$30
Blitzer Maths. *$54.84 ^$30
Music. *$61.43 ^$35
Total= *$165.27 ^$95
*original ,
^his priceDifference: $70.27!!! :)
Ok, I hope this goes well... and no one snatches my deal?
Oh! But the Evergreen english book I have to buy myself. No 2nd hand ones... Eww... how much? $32.32!!! Ok, not so bad. Not as bad as the others anyway.

Oh my! How could I have possibly missed out a game on the listings yesterday?! Okay, before foosball, we played a game of captain's
ball frisbee. Yep. It wasn't so fab, ran here and there, we didn't win anyway. hehe..
Today, we were given a talk by Mr. Kevin Mckelvy(Resident Director of UB) about the UB program and important things to note. We were supposed to get the 2nd-hand textbooks today. Yes, you guessed it. The stocks were low, and everyone snatched it away before me, yes. I was too slow. It was sold out.
I think it's okay not to have the textbooks for awhile... but I really really want to look at what I'm going to study before class starts. Too bad.
Oh! We have to take this course, Advanced english bla bla bla, and so on next Monday, the FIRST day of school, we got to take a written test to split us up into the 3 different english classes. ARGH!

About
thurs, 4th May...
Some juice comin' up people!
Today's Freshman Orientation for UB/SIM. Wah... Unbelievable... I have lots to talk about, people!
Firstly, I woke up at 7.40am. Reached the bus-stop at 8.30am. Missed 154 once, twice... THRICE!!! Sickening... The bus driver's so freakin crappy. I am only one person. His bus can still fit me. But he refused to stop for me. Rubbish. Maybe I should complain. Aiya, but not so free to do that anyway...
So, was supposed to reach at 9am, but ended reaching SIM at 9.15am. No worries. I registered, went into room 4.14 and there were quite a lot of students, the place was pretty filled. A bit of boring talks, and we moved on into different groups. I saw Feng Kai, I was pretty surprised to see him there anyway. But, yea. I did. He's taking a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration.
Different course. But same UNI. Well... and coincidentally, we ended up in the same group too. I met some new people, made some new friends... total, 6 girls including me. 3, including me, doing the degree after O levels, 2 after A levels and 1 after diploma. They were quite nice anyway. Uhh, 3 of us are doing Comms while the other 3 does Business. They're Jane, Stephanie, Gracelynn, Audrey and Crystal. The guys are all an older bunch. Did their NS whatever already. Oh! Except for Feng Kai. They all call him Kai. But I refuse to shorten my name. They must call me Jia Zhen or at least, J.Z. lar...
Anyway, we had a campus tour, then lunch. It was Mcdonalds. Rubbishy... It was just the bread "kiap"(uh...sandwich-"ing"?) the fish or chicken patty only. No vegetables, sauce, nothing! Eww... tasted weird. And, after that... we headed off to Sentosa. THE WILDEST "fun" begins.
Ok, so we played in our groups...
Games:
1.
Minefield. There was a grid thingy... and we had to solve puzzles, crossing the grids... safely to the end point. Some team-spirit building and also memory work involved. So, if we got into a minefield, we would be bombed. Ok, BOMB. Talking about the bomb... the eewest of EWW. They splashed salty-sea-water on us and then poured like, a LOT of flour on us. Uwgh. YUCKY... We get like, VOILA! Instant hair gel hardness and dandruffy looking hair. It was so sticky, we even joked about baking our hair, making bread. Crystal was the one who got it the worse. The "flour-iest", stickiest amoing all of us.
So we went for a dip in the sea...
2.
Spider Web.Pretty... lame. Hehe... We had to cross the spider webs and get points. Yeah. Long and boring info, I wouldn't talk about it. It was fun.
3. The spin-round-a-pole, get dizzy, climb up a soapy, "flour-y", wetty, salty, slippery slope, get dunked on the t-shirt with seawater, did I mention on all fours? Run all the way to the "green string"(pretty far) and run back to tag the next race.
4.
Pass-the-Oreo-Os-mouth-to-mouth-using-shortened-toothpicksYAWN... Parlour game. Do I even care to elaborate? And we had to alternate between guys and gals. YAWN...(again)...
5.
Foosball? -Table soccer.
But without table, enlarged, using humans, bamboo poles and a volleyball. It was quite short, fun? Yeah. Pretty fun. The guy beside me, striker no.1, Sanjiv. Amazing man! The man of the match. Scored 2 goals without a bat of his eyelid. And with so much style and posse! So cool.
6.
Sandcastle.Build a sandcastle. Yea. That's easy. But we got 10 points(full) for just burying our Orientation Group Leader in the sand. Yeah. That's easy.
Then we walked to the showers, it was so so so far away!!! Then... cleansed ourselves before heading off to the departure hall. It was such a long bus ride. The bus just kept turning, turning... and I don't know man. It got me dizzy. I'm so tired. It was scorching hot. So my face is so red now... Gosh.. they should've told us to bring sunblock.
Reached home at 6.50pm anyway, then went to SIM together with mum for the parent's orientation... some talks and, yeah.. Home. Now, it's time to sleep. NITES!

My Orientation is tomorrow! I'm so not prepared for it. I wonder what kinds of people I will meet. It's definitely going to be different. Why must it be held at Sentosa?!! Ugh...
Check this out... it's from the student council's website.
5.Transportation from SIM to Sentosa on Thursday 4th May will be provided, but there will be no return transportation from Sentosa to SIM.What?! They expect us to go back ourselves? After bringing us there? It's so cheapskate. They should just throw in the return journey into the orientation.
It's going to be a long day...
From 9am to 6.15pm. Let's hope it'll be fun. I'll have to make new friends! How exciting!
I got my o level certificate today. It's time I get it. I have to submit it before school starts or I wouldn't be allowed to take classes. MUST HURRY!!! Will be showing it to them tomorrow anyway...
Okay, I just don't understand why they must mix the 4 different semester and subjects' students' timetables together. It's such a mess. I can't figure it out! What a bother. I'd have to make it clear tomorrow.
First Sememster will be commencing on 8th May! I will be doing the following four courses...
1. Introduction to Microeconomics(Yawn... What's this?) -(4 credits)
2. Advanced Written English and Reading(huh?) -(3 credits)
3. Survey of Algebra and Trigonometry(ARGH! MATHS!!!) -(4 credits)
4. Theory of Music for Nonmajors :( (Theory of Music?! What the heck?!) -(3 credits)
I haven't got my textbooks yet... so I'd better hurry! I'll most probably be getting the 2nd hand ones, 'cos the textbooks costs a BOMB! Really.
So, anyway...
that's about all for today. I'll be getting up early tomorrow, so I better sleep soon. Oh no! It's midnight already! Goodnight!

It's Labour Day! Let's all go to KK! Haha.. get it? Labour Day--> KK Women and Childrens' Hospital? Heard that from Power 98 Djs Jeremy and Rosalind. Funny seh...
Ooh! I just love doing stuff I haven't done before and experiencing new things... and feelings. Anyway, the bazaar in front of Swensens for us ended yesterday, and Auntie Yang took over our place. We still had business at around 12.30am. So, we started packing from there, putting the goods into their individual boxes and packing up all the stuff, and taking apart the stands and foldable tables. It had been fun. Well, of course our hands got really dirty at the end and it was all dusty black. We went into the Crown Prince Hotel restrooms to wash them.
We cleared the place at around 3am and Auntie Yang came along to set up her shop. Then, ok... for the first time, we stayed back at Swensens and went to get some food 'cos at that time, our stomachs were rumbling already. We had mushrooms and US fries. It was fantastic, I say! The food came at about 4am, 'cos we went in and ordered, and settled down only at around 3.45am. The menu is different from the normal one. There's this Moonlight Delight Menu that runs from 11pm to 7am. So cool. 'Cos that Swensens is a 24-hrs/round-the-clock restaurant/cafe.
Check out our faces. You could tell the sleepiness factor. We look half-asleep aleady.

By the time we got home, it was 4.50am. And after showering etc., I got to bed at 5.10am. Hey! 5.10am?! Whoa...
